MARANTZ M1 Launch.

 

When our production company was tasked with creating the launch content for the Marantz M1, we knew it would be a highly creative and technically challenging project. The client’s brief called for stunning visuals and seamless video content to showcase the sleek design and advanced features of the Marantz M1, and they entrusted us to bring that vision to life.

The Locations

The shoot took place across two locations in London, each chosen to highlight different aspects of the Marantz M1’s aesthetic and functionality. Both locations were designed to complement the sophisticated style of the product, ensuring that it stood out in every shot. However, while working across multiple spaces added depth to the visual narrative, it also introduced logistical and creative challenges—especially when it came to a particular scene featuring a TV.

The Technical Challenge

In one of the key scenes, we needed to show both the Marantz M1 and a TV in the same frame. This shot took place in one of the locations where, due to restrictions, we were unable to attach the TV to the wall as originally intended. Instead, we had to suspend the TV, creating the need for two separate shots—one featuring the Marantz M1 and the other featuring the suspended TV. The solution required us to composite the two shots together seamlessly in post-production.

To achieve this, we brought in the Bolt Junior cinebot from Mark Roberts Motion Control.

Using Motion Control

The Bolt Junior cinebot, hired and operated by the skilled team at Mark Roberts Motion Control, allowed us to capture precise and repeatable movements. This was essential for both the product shot and the TV shot, as we needed the exact same camera movements for each so that they could be composited together seamlessly in post-production. Without the cinebot's precision, getting the shots to align perfectly would have been impossible.

Overcoming the Challenges

Working with the motion control system introduced its own complexities. Every camera movement—whether a subtle pan, tilt, or zoom—had to be perfectly synchronized between the two separate takes. This was especially important for the TV scene, shot in one of the London locations. The suspended TV required careful planning to ensure the lighting, angles, and perspective remained consistent, so it appeared natural once the two shots were merged.

The real challenge came in post-production, where the two elements had to be stitched together. Thanks to the repeatable accuracy of the Bolt Junior cinebot, we were able to create a flawless final composition, making it appear as though the Marantz M1 and the TV were shot together in a single take.

The Final Product

In the end, the collaboration between our team, the client, and Mark Roberts Motion Control allowed us to deliver launch content that fully realized the client’s vision. The photography and video assets captured the sleek, modern design of the Marantz M1 while showcasing its functionality across two unique London locations.

The final work was featured across various press outlets, website content, and social media platforms, playing a key role in the global launch of the product.
